Post-Doc in Material Science/Polymer Analytics

Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI-CI), Potsdam, Germany

Scientist in gloves analyzing blue liquid in a laboratory setting with microscope and glassware.

About us

Colloids and interfaces consist of very small or thin structures with linear dimensions between nanometers and micrometers. On the one hand, the possible structures represent a „world of hidden dimensions“. On the other hand, the dynamics and structures of these small entities determine the behavior of much larger systems such as organisms.

The group of Dr. Manuel Häußler focuses on establishing whole new value chains from renewable feedstocks to sustainable materials specifically designed for a circular economy.

The Group Circular Chemical Concepts of Dr. Manuel Häußler in the Department of Biomolecular Systems (Director Prof. Dr. Seeberger) at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI-CI) in Potsdam, Germany announces the position of a

Post-Doctoral Researcher in Material Science/Polymer Analytics (m/f/d)

The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension.

Your Tasks:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in the development of new material processes and characterization of porous filter materials from recycled PE.
  • Collaborate with industrial partners to ensure the practical application and scalability of research findings.
  • Lead and contribute to scientific publications and present findings at conferences and industry meetings.

Your qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on polymer analytics.
  • Experience with polymer characterization techniques, including but not limited to:
    • Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)
    • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
    • Mechanical properties assessment
