Qualification
PhD in a relevant area of Life Sciences
Passion for driving important discoveries in basic (neuro)developmental biology.
Experience
It is necessary to have prior knowledge of genomics (including RNA and ATAC sequencing preparations and computational analyses) and cellular and molecular biology (including cloning).
Experience with embryology (including animal husbandry, microinjections, and dissections), behavior analysis, immunofluorescence/in situ hybridization, and animal models—preferably fish or other aquatic models—is desirable but not necessary.
In addition to having a strong track record of scientific accomplishments through preprinting and/or peer-reviewed publications and presentations, the applicant must be extremely ambitious and self-motivated.
Superior abilities in scientific communication, both written and spoken, time management, teamwork, and independence are required.
Description of Job
For a NICHD-funded study examining the cellular, molecular, behavioral, and developmental mechanisms of chromatin regulator genes linked to autism, we are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team.
This study uses zebrafish (Danio rerio) and is conducted at our lab, Tornini Lab, at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The selected applicant will be a part of UCLA’s growing research community and a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment with colleagues from the Institute for Society and Genetics and the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology.
